Question about starting mini pill

Hi all

I am planning to order the Hana mini pill as it will be so convenient. I have been looking at the online leaflet and it says to start it when on your period. Mine is due but I am unlikely to get the pill delivery in time to take it before period ends. Do you HAVE to start the mini pill when on your period, as I will have to wait another month if so? Or can you start it any time as long as you use other protection for 7 days?

Any advice appreciated!

You can start it on any day of your cycle but ensure you use another form of contraception for 7 days after you've started it.

You may as well get it from your GP if you need to wait anyway. It's free.

You can start at any time, I started mine mid cycle, but be careful for the next 7 days. ( Some websites say 2 days but I waited 7 just to make sure)

I was literally about to ask the same question.. but about Desogestrel.

I know you can start the mini pill any time in your cycle, but you need extra protection depending when you start.

But does anyone have experience of whether it's been less disruptive in terms of long term 'settling' (less spotting, symptoms etc) if you start on the first day of your cycle compared to starting mid cycle etc?

@chronictonic good question, I would be interested to know this too.

Yeah if you start it while you're on your period you're going to have a full cycle on it so will cause less disturbance.

If you start it mid-cycle it's more likely to mess things up.
