DD's prom is soon and she's picked these shoes.

www.debenhams.com/product/moda-in-pelle-ilari-leather-court-shoes_p-0e10111e-f876-4a3d-98ae-11620b4d9353?colour=off%20white&size=6&istCompanyId=76f7277d-6e78-4dc2-aaff-1eb77fae16b0&istFeedId=258a4886-8f3c-47ef-9369-d1eda8d84501&istItemId=rtlpaaqwr&istBid=t&gclid=Cj0KCQiA9YugBhCZARIsAACXxeIXFGdwWtk7C6KdTf2NYYviScNmbNqLeczyizkl4VRhBlWWxyaOErUaAhyZEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds

However, when she picked them she was convinced they were black with a silver heel. But we can only find white with a silver heel or black with a gold heel.

Now she has these shoes in mind they are the only shoes that will do. We've looked all over for black shoes with a silver heels but cannot find any she likes. I've even offered her designer shoes but only these ones will do.

She's had a really rough year and looking forward to prom has been a distraction for her. I really want it to be perfect for her.

Can we make the white shoe black or the gold heel silver, somehow? Is that possible?

You can buy leather dye. It's a thin consistency liquid you paint onto shows. I have used it to turn brown boots black and it went well - but it might take a few coats?

hadtoomuchsleep · 04/03/2023 13:44

*shoes

hadtoomuchsleep · 04/03/2023 13:46

It says here you should first dye it green, then black. Anyway good luck! 😀

It might be better to buy the black version and paint the heel as it could be tricky painting the leather under the detail of the heel.

You could use something like this, applied with a fine brush to avoid the gems.

I'm not sure I'd want a craft project on such nice shoes.

Could you scour ebay for a pair of the white ones, buy the black ones, and either take to a cobbler or if confident, switch the heels?

CoconutJamSpongeAndPinkCustard · 04/03/2023 14:43

I don't see how you could paint the fabric/ leather. You can see it through the metal at the back and it would be impossible to get to without damaging the heal.

They come in nude with a silver heal. Would that work as a compromise?

Whatsnewpussyhat · 04/03/2023 14:54

No way I would attempt to dye the white ones black.

Buy black and paint the metal as PP suggested.

ItWillWash · 04/03/2023 15:02

Buying two pairs and taking them to a cobbler would be an option. I'll pop down to the local cobblers tomorrow and ask what they think.

Unfortunately, there is no compromise. We've tried. She's been offered and turned down Laboutins. We've looked on Etsy for shoe designers. We've looked at every shoe shop in existence. I know she had a pinterest page with her dad when she was thinking up her look. The way she is so determined to have these shoes and only these shoes no matter what other options she is given, I'm thinking maybe he picked them out. We lost him a couple of months ago. She hasn't told me he picked them but I know they both pinned things on her board and she doesn't really talk about things. If he did pick them she wouldn't tell me.

The picture pinned on her board does make them look black and silver but I think it's just bad lighting/a bad picture.

It would be easier to paint the gold heel silver than to dye the leather, but it will be fiddly. You could try silver gilding leaves but again it'll be hard to make it look good. But you can but try. I wonder if the bit at the heel can be detached in some way?

Waitwhat23 · 04/03/2023 15:09

Apologies, just seen that you said silver heel.

I'm so so sorry for your loss 🤍

SchoolTripDrama · 04/03/2023 15:13

There is a Moda in Pelle shop in my town. If I can go in for you, I'd be happy to. If they have what you need, I'll be happy to post them? I post parcels almost daily anyway

ItWillWash · 04/03/2023 15:17

That would be awesome if you could @SchoolTripDrama . I really don't think they ever had any black ones with silver heels. I honestly just think the picture they pinned is a bad picture of the black and gold ones but it won't hurt to try if you're passing.

In terms of DiY jobs I would dye the leather- I've done this with shoes for a friend years ago- and it was really effective. After reading your update though, and why you feel she wants them- if budget allows I would buy both and get a cobbler to re heel as PP said- I am so sorry for your loss

ItWillWash · 04/03/2023 16:10

Thank you. The budget allows for both and a cobbler so pending what the cobbler thinks I think that's what we will go with.

@ItWillWash they are linked above buy wait in BLACK but a gold heel

I also found them here

CharodNeDu · 04/03/2023 16:16

www.blancanavas.com/shop/court-shoes-womens-moda-in-pelle-ilari-black-suede-black/

Those ones are £59.76 whereas wait's ones are over £100

CharodNeDu · 04/03/2023 16:17

Sorry, just seen she wants the silver heel.

CharodNeDu · 04/03/2023 16:19

Sorry for your loss too, awful for both of you Flowers

Triflenot · 04/03/2023 16:45

I’d buy the white and try dying them. You could use a small art brush with a steady hand to get between the metal detail.

WeAreTheHeroes · 04/03/2023 16:49

Shein do a very close version, black with silver heel. Would that be an option?

ItWillWash · 04/03/2023 17:09

They might @WeAreTheHeroes . I have sent DD the link. Thanks.
