Timed car feeders

I am looking for a cat feeder that will do for several days to feed my cat. I ordered one a couple of years ago that was useless.

You might not get many responses due to the typo in the title!

We have this one which is great - www.amazon.co.uk/your-orders/pop/ref=ppx_yo_mob_b_pop?_encoding=UTF8&gen=canonical&lineItemId=jnpnlopsrqopooy&orderId=204-3790967-5900366&packageId=1&returnSummaryId=&returnUnitIndices=&returnUnitMappingId=&shipmentId=DnVyJ5w0T

Cat did work out how to open the lid so that had to be taped down and she tried knocking it over too so we have it wedged between a cupboard and the table 😂

But other than that, it works great!

I was wondering if it was about electric car chargepoints!

We have the one SoHereWeGo posted and it's been very good, had it for years now. Also had one which was large and circular and open slot moved round. But both of them only do 48 hrs, I've never found one for wet food that does longer than that if you want 3 or 4 days away

Kois · 04/03/2023 13:55

I fed my car today, £40 it cost me!
I don't know about cat feeders op, perhaps look on Amazon and read the reviews for car feeders, even if you don't buy one from there.
That way you might get an idea of what's good and what's not.

We have this one: Cat Mate C300 amzn.eu/d/gPS9uWE

It is excellent, though setting the feeding times can be a little fiddly until you get the hang of it.

It is tricky enough for a human to open that I don't even a ravenous Houdini cat world be able to get into it. (Tip for humans: only try to open one side at a time.)

We bought this model because MrCat gets wet food three times a day, but if I was buying one now, though, I would probably buy the 5-portion one and only use three portions. That way all the portions would be hidden until feeding time.

I wouldn't leave a cat alone for several days, even with a timed feeder, couldn't you get someone to check on the cat occasionally, and refill and reset the feeder.

NeedSomeSpace · 04/03/2023 14:36

We had a great cat food timer, it was a hopper with a timed dispenser. Only for dry food but our cat was fine with that for a weekend. We also had a water container that was a big hopper too, just filled it up and turned it upside down, held loads so no chance of running out.

They will be absolutely fine, I've left mine longer. Food, water, plenty litter trays and tele on. They will not suffer.
They suffer more in a cattery.
Not everyone has people nearby to pop in.

LBOCS2 · 04/03/2023 15:13

This is the one we have. Each side is large enough for a day's worth of dry food for two cats. Our neighbours or my DSis come in every couple of days to check on them and clear up the dead animal stomachs scattered around my kitchen and they're absolutely fine like that.

JennyDarlingRIP · 04/03/2023 15:18

We had a cat mate one you put ice packs in, a big round thing, but tricky to say up but great over you get the hang of it and an automated biscuit feeder that dispensed biscuits (Andrew something I think) at the same time every day because work could be a bit unpredictable, stopped using the latter once we had DS as we were home on a much more regular schedule. I do recall it had a voice record function, so you called the cat for food! Our cat worked out a way to wedge his paw up into mechanism to trigger it so it would dispense additional biscuits.

lockedcupboard · 04/03/2023 20:56

We have a cat mate but one of ours knows exactly how to open it so I wouldn't recommend it for leaving them overnight or longer.

Doyouthinktheyknow · 04/03/2023 20:59

We bought one for dry food and another for wet. The aim was to try and avoid the early waking, not to leave the cat.

She’s a few brain cells short though and didn’t like the noise of either. Or prefers the human touch! Anyway they were both a waste of money!

13lucky · 08/03/2023 23:08

We've just bought the cat mate c500. I love the concept and it would work great for us...but our cat is TERRIFIED of it! He now practically won't go in the kitchen and won't eat anything! (He is the greediest cat in the world normally which is why I bought it as we have someone coming in twice a day this coming weekend while we are away but our cat eats numerous times a day - small amounts each time otherwise he scoffs the food too fast and vomits...so we thought this would be a perfect solution. But literally he is petrified. Any advice?!

Can’t find the exact one I’ve got but it’s just like the one below- can feed 1 cat a fair few meals and I can set the timer to feed up to 6 meals a day, each a different portion size - if I wanted. Works a treat!

How many days could you use or for two meals a day please?

Take the batteries out and smear some Likielix (spelling?) on the edge near - but not inside - the feeding area. Leave the feeder out for him to investigate.

When he's at his hungriest, put some Likielix inside the feeder bowl.

Do this several times. When he is confident getting the Likielix this way, put some of his food in as well.

Only put the batteries back in once he is comfortable eating his food from the feeder.

Once you do so, you may need to lace the food with Likielix again. But eventually you should be able to use it without the bribe.

It took our nervous nellie a few days to accept the feeder.
