Stressed somehow cause me to lose the ability to relax
for example I used to enjoy laying on the beach or having a soak in the bath etc

went through a long period of high stress and lost the ability to relax
like I couldn’t say in the bath for long I’d be all go hidey and want to get out after a few mins etc
say 3 mins !

my stress levels are coming down and im
working on that

but if you’ve ever somehow lost the ability to relax how did you regain it

I've never been able to relax...

I'm the same @Bluetitnest . I can't say why but I seem to always be on edge, and there's an inner tension. Everything I 'have' to do becomes almost impossible, even just taking a shower. It's like I see a mountain not a gradually inclining hill.

If I go out and do something I'm ok, but that in itself is a struggle.

I am a lot better if the sun is shining and if I have spoken to someone, even if it's just when buying a pint of milk or something.

I feel like “relaxing” is put into a very constricted box on MN. I used to joke that “I can’t read by relaxing” but what I mean is that for me, a long slow run with a friend or going to the gym and doing some weights while listening to a podcast are genuinely relaxing. I also subscribe to “busy hands, quiet mind” philosophy so I find stuff like digging over beds and cutting hedges relaxing, but sitting in the bath or lying on a beach make me kind of twitchy as I find it hard to shut out my to do list or niggling worries.

Ffs - I can’t relax by relaxing.

I find it almost impossible to lie on a beach doing nothing

Reading, but it needs to be a page turner

Running or any exercise is good - even if you hate it , it'll take your mind off other things.

Anything where you are busy will help. I quite like snipping things in the garden.
