How do you view a smart meter?

Weve just had one fitted this afternoon. Im already hating seeing how much were using and am actually really shocked just by cooking dinner today for 30mins it went up by £1.40 To have an oven, actifry and microwave on

I know we used it before hand but its the physically seeing it.
Anyway my point to the post is do you feel panicked by seeing the amount ? Or do you just think well there's no different to what it was before having it fitted. Im turning literally everything I can off tonight

I don't use mine. It increased my anxiety. I know electric and gas are extortionate so I don't need reminding.

I don't look at the in home display but I check my online account every fees days to keep an eye on it.

The display showing usage isnt the smart meter per se - the smart meter is the box under the stairs or wherever which shows your electric and gas consumption and transmits the information to the power company. That way you dont have to keep submitting meter readings or getting estimated bills. I unplugged our display shortly after we got it - I dont care what our usage is on a minute by minute basis. Plus of course by having the display you are using electricity to power it... (miniscule I know but it all adds up!)
