Final decision - Heaton, Newcastle

I started a thread about moving to Fenham for family with children and got advice that (although there was some people with good experiences) it would not be an ideal place to move to in Newcastle. I have an offer in on a house in Heaton near the Freeman. I am in final decision time. What are the schools like around there? (DC are tweens) I'm hoping for Jesmond park academy... is that realistic? and a nice place? I can commute on foot which is ideal, but is it realistic to think my children will be safe to walk to school around there? Sorry, I can't spend much time 'on the ground' before moving.

Dunno about schools but Heaton near the Freeman is really nice, your kids will be safe to walk to school, but I would say that is true of most if not all of Newcastle.

High Heaton is a lovely part of the city. JPA is a much improved school. You'll be Grand there.

If you are looking at in year admissions you can ring the school to ask if they have a long waiting list for those year groups.
