I can't believe British Telecom is still printing and distributing phone books

I just had one put through my letterbox. Albeit very slim compared to back in the day. This has to be the last year surely? Who bothers with a book like this anymore?

Haven't had a phone book delivered in years.

percypercypercy · 03/03/2023 15:21

Who still calls them by a name they dropped 30 years ago?

ScentOfAMemory · 03/03/2023 15:21

My 94 year old in laws.

Me because that's the name printed on the front...

My answer was to OP about using the phone book not about calling it BT 😂

lieselotte · 03/03/2023 15:23

I got one yesterday too. And was the writing always that small?

Is it?

Tillow4ever · 03/03/2023 15:40

OP clearly you're going to have to take a photo to prove the name thing to @percypercypercy.

I've not seen a phone book in years - genuinely thought they'd stopped doing them! I wonder how they decide where to distribute them? Maybe it's to do with the number of landlines in an area or something!

bestbefore · 03/03/2023 15:43

We had one the other week. V odd. My friend was in it and she doesn't even have a landline anymore!

Needmorelego · 03/03/2023 15:52

I used to love reading the Yellow Pages as a kid.....🤣

Aaron95 · 03/03/2023 15:55

We got one a few weeks ago. I got to fulfill one of my childhood fantasies and tear it in half like Geoff Capes.

I thought you had to have a landline to receive broadband. Not everyone uses their landline though. We don't have a phone plugged into ours, but I remember our phone number from when we did use it.

midgemadgemodge · 03/03/2023 16:00

You no longer need a landline for broadband

No,you don't need a landline any more. We have fibre broadband here,no phone line needed. So much faster and much more reliable too

bestbefore · 03/03/2023 16:11

@KnickerlessParsons no you don't, we have cable broadband and no home phone. Technically the landline from bt is still connected but we don't pay line rental so the line doesn't work

bestbefore · 03/03/2023 16:12

Yes sorry ours is fibre broadband

KnickerlessParsons · 03/03/2023 16:33

Thanks for the explanation.

The very same. I received my first phone book in many years just a few weeks ago 🤔. I don't understand why.
