Luxury afternoon tea in Central London - recommendations please

I'm looking for somewhere fancy to go in Central London for afternoon tea. It will be in mid March this year so definitely not interested in anywhere that would need to be booked months in advance, thanks. Smile

Very flexible on cost as it's a big birthday and I want it to be a real treat. Would prefer a place without a strict dress code but will consider all recommendations. Must have good vegetarian options and nice cake!! Also, food should be plentiful as we will be going in early evening before the theatre and it will replace our evening meal. And surroundings need to be sumptuous please!

Browns keep the food coming continually and will give you a v posh doggy box to take away leftovers

Palm Court at the Langham: delicious, luxurious and amazing service. I took my mum there for her 75th birthday and they were brilliant with her.

The restaurant at the National Gallery does a good afternoon tea; maybe not quite as flash as some but very pleasant with the opportunity to take in art too - www.ochre.london/

Thank you for all of your lovely suggestions.

Having researched the various options and discounted quite a lot because of limited availability/overly strict dress codes etc, I finally made a booking at Langhams. Smile
