Email not working- help me get back on

Hi all, sorry, I have posted this on TECH but nobody answered so I'm getting desperate for help. Here's my other post:

Help please. Received an email saying that there was activity which looked suspicious etc on my hotmail account. I ignored last night as I thought it could be suspicious itself.

Today I haven't been able to send or receive emails. I then went back to the first Microsoft email, followed the link to verify my account. It asked for lots of details- list top sender, list most common title, blah blah, followed the instructions. Still no emails being received. I know it might take time.

Tried to find a number to call, but the number said we do everything online. Followed their instructions, verify account etc. answer my secret question.

Any ideas how to get back to it all working?

I thought to delete the account (on my phone) but I can't see how to do that anyway.

Sounds like someone may have hacked you and sent emails to get suspicious activity. I'd say it's a time thing. I had similar with Facebook and had to send ID and it took ages.

Is there a chat option anywhere?

No. So annoying. I tried deleting and re entering codes and now I can't see anything at all!

I think there's a way to get some recovery code.
I remember going through the rigmarole of the questions like " what is the subject line of a recent email?" Etc. I had to do it for my granny but in the end I used a recovery code. I can't remember how to get it but at the log in page I think either go through the password reset option and the option to recover may be there
