Watsapp messages iCloud urgent question.

Can someone please help me solve this:
watsapp updates messages to iCloud. So conversations get backed up which can be restored. But let’s pretend I deleted an old conversation 4-5 years ago and my phone has regularly updated since. Does that deleted conversation remain on iCloud or does it make changes according to the recent update? In other words that old conversation won’t be there anymore as it’s saved updates since.
i know I’m not making much sense. Sorry. Anyone know?

Those messages will have been gone from the first back up after you deleted them. The only way to get them back will be if the other person has them saved, they can export the messages and send them to you.

Does WhatsApp Backup Overwrite Previous Backups?
Yes, whenever WhatsApp backup a new file, your entire previous backup is overwritten.

Thank you ladies! What a bummer. I’m assuming backups have happened since then. So can’t get those messages back. Stupid question but when do back ups happen. Are they automatic or do we update them ourselves? How frequent are they? Sorry for sounding so dumb.

My WhatsApp automatically backs up every 24 hours

Yeah, older deleted stuff is gone.

If you go into Whatsapp's Settings, Chats, Chat Backup chooses when to backup and defaults to Daily.

Was hoping there would be some glimmer of hope of getting them back, but thanks for information.

You can get them back if the other person in the conversation still has them. You’ll need to ask them though

No help now, but for future, you can export your chats and save them separately. Of course only relevant if you have the foresight that you might need them.
