Their customer service is weird. Has anyone else found this?

I've received a refund for a meal. I don't need a refund (I ate the food) and contacted JustEat to return it to the restaurant. They just kept saying they couldn't do anything about it.

So I asked have I essentially had a free meal then? And they just kept repeating that they couldn't "disclose it".

Wtf? This is a local restaurant that I like and are family run. I'm wondering how I can sort this out.

Should I just go down and pay them? I feel really bad for them.

Why did you want to return it to the restaurant, but then ate it? Presumably there was some issue with the food, you made them aware, they refunded you -because what else can they do. I highly doubt anywhere that sells food will want it back after it's been delivered. For food hygiene reasons they won't be able to pass it on to anyone else so it's likely going to waste regardless.

Just Eat are essentially a courier/middle man who take a cut of the order price in exchange for the fact that usually restaurants get a lot of extra business by putting themselves on that platform. They have nothing to do with anything else the business is doing. If you want to fully support a local eatery then the best way to do that is call them and order direct and therefore they get the full % of profit.

If you really wanted to you could probably call them and ask to make a payment for the meal, I expect they'll just say not to worry but if it makes you feel better to ask , then why not.

I think OP means she contacted Just Eat to return the refund, not the food.

That's it. Thanks. Reading that back I can see it wasn't that clear.
