I'd neglected to do it for various reasons including that they installed a smart meter that does not transmit and they wouldn't / couldn't tell me how to read... kept feeling sick every time I got a bill .. dreaded reading it in case it was WORSE.. but finally thanks to someone here telling me to google instructions did it today ... see the picture. Feeling a lot happier 
Our bills are high (lots of people, working from home, big old house etc.) but they were becoming frankly utterly unmanagable and I'm not surprised when I look at this..
So if you've been getting estimates for a while go and submit a reading
