Recommend me a lovely holiday resort

Feel like I have searched the whole internet but can't really find what I'm looking for. Holiday for me, DH & 2x DC, DD 10 & DS 12. DC are good kids, travel well, no issues.

Last year, we went to Kos, it was nice enough, but a bit, well, dull.

I'm looking for end August, 10 nights, hot, short ish flight, a brilliant pool/slides, as nice as possible accommodation, so a great place to stay, with great facilities. BUT near a 'resort centre' - so plenty of bars, shops, things to look at that we can walk to. I absolutely do not want anywhere 'quiet, small and friendly, away from it all.' Have enjoyed Majorca, Corralejo in Fuerteventura and Playa Blanca in Lanzarote before but looking to go somewhere new.

Budget around £4K. I'm actually not averse to somewhere that's a bit Brits abroad as such. I'm aware this this might be some people's idea of hell! Any ideas? Bonus points for specific accommodation/resort names.

Try portugal we love it. Not been to a resort as such but I know people who have and they had a blast.

Eden Roc on Rhodes

Sunrise Garden Beach in Hurghada

Both longer flights but amazing resorts.

TokyoSushi · 02/03/2023 13:46

Thanks!!

@TokyoSushi Both have loads of restaurants 7/8 respectively with unlimited visits.

Eden Roc is salt water pools so a bit cooler than normal pools and has a private shingle beach. Within 20minute bus ride to Old Town.

Sunrise garden beach has a better water park, normal pools and a sandy beach. 15 minute Uber to the marina costing about £1.50. 10 minute walk or 30p ride to Senzo Mall.

Puerto Pollenso in Majorca sounds like it would suit you.

Spidey66 · 02/03/2023 14:42

Sorry, see you've already tried Majorca.

TokyoSushi · 02/03/2023 15:14

I like Majorca though! @Spidey66

Look at Costa Adeje Tenerife. The water park there is fantastic (according to my DC).
I believe some hotels give a free pass to Siam Park.

WeeM · 02/03/2023 15:17

How about a Royal Caribbean cruise-water slides etc on the ship for the kids, plenty bars for the parents lol and lots of interesting places to visit.

Zaragirl14 · 02/03/2023 15:20

Cala D’or Majorca
Nerja Costa Del Sol

Sarigerme in Turkey.

We usually stay at TUI Blue Tropical but some people say the Holiday Village next door is better for older kids. Sarigerme village is 5km away, there are taxis outside the hotel gate that take you for a few quid. Also there are trips you can go on like boat trips, jeep safaris, mud baths, paragliding.

There’s a Facebook group about the two hotels where you can see what people say about them.

gogohmm · 02/03/2023 15:40

The TUI blue hotels are good, or how about a cruise with royal Caribbean or Norwegian, the ships that look like butlins on the top, water slides etc. added advantage is many let kids stay onboard when you sightsee. Look at iglu or planet cruise. If it's not in budget yet, hang in because typically prices drop 3 months before sail date

Mummys · 02/03/2023 15:49

Second holiday village in sarigerme for kids. The town is nice to get out and about and plenty of moody 'designer' clothes that the teens were very impressed with 🤣

TokyoSushi · 02/03/2023 16:08

The cruises look amazing, and just the type of throng we'd love! ££££ at the moment, but as you say, worth keeping an eye on, would be fantastic!

Have look at hotels in uvala Cikat on the island of Lošinj, Croatia. The town of Mali Lošinj is pretty and lively in summer.

Oh also looks lovely, loads of options!

If you end up in Sarigerme I can recommend the tours with Basket Travel. We did the jeep safari, which involves a full on water fight while driving through the local countryside, bonkers, very wet, but great fun. Also did a multi-island boat tour with them.

Mummys · 02/03/2023 17:20

Yes to basket travel! Went on the river cruise which saw the rock tombs, some turtles maybe and a nice beach (was about 11 years ago so details are hazy)

cocksstrideintheevening · 02/03/2023 17:56

Es Cana, Ibiza

Yoloohno · 02/03/2023 18:28

Eden Roc is lovely. It it’s quite isolated and probably a little bit boring for children going by what you’ve put.

I went without children and I found it lovely, the food was amazing, it had most beautiful views.

I like Costa Adeje, Siam Park is worth a visit.

How about Salou and the areas around. A day out at Portaventura and the water parks is a lovely day out. It’s quite compact and easy to get around by bus and easy to get to Barcelona for a day trip.

Basket Travel are ace!!! We did the 12 islands twice last year (we ended up going twice for various reasons) and on the second one they brought us free cocktails. We want to do the water fight jeep safari as well this year.
