Driving anxiety-doing things wrong

Hi guys, anther driving question as I find driving quite anxiety inducing!!

I pulled over on the side of the road yesterday indicated and came over was only there 2 seconds. Needed to check something.

Left my indicator on ( hind side probably could have turned it off but knew I wasn’t staying more than a few seconds) I was sat in an area I am able to park in! No double yellows or anything like that ! Other cars were parked there too.

anyway! A police car drove past me as I about to leave and gave me the dirtiest look ever as if I did something wrong!

im sure nothing I did was wrong hah! But does anybody get anxiety when passing police cars etc if they look at you etc that you’ve done something? Or just generally driving I feel I always do things wrong and question myself all the time!

anxiety sucks hah! 🤦🏼‍♀️🙈

If you'd done something wrong then police would have stopped you and spoken to you.

I don't get anxious driving, but have been doing it for 30 years.

Sounds stupid but there is nothing wrong at all about being pulled over at the side of a road where you’re allowed to be with your indicator on is there?? 🙈better to be indicating than not I’m sure! they got me questioning myself so much haha!!
yes I figured they would have done at the time- thank you!

No, I can't see you did anything wrong

The police were probably just glancing over to see what you were doing to check you were OK.

As has been said, if you were doing something wrong, they'd have stopped.

You have no odea what they were thinking/talking about/were on their way to attend/had just attended... Glances can look like dirty looks when you're anxious 😉

So there is nothing wrong with pulling over for a few minutes and having your indicator on? 🤣
and yes think your right the anxious mind does sure make you think you e done wrong when infact you really haven’t! 🙈

Police in cars always glare. Its their default expression.

Seeline · 02/03/2023 08:53

I assume you weren't checking your phone?

If your indicator was on, the engine would have been running. It would therefore be illegal to be doing anything with your phone unless hands-free.
The police were probably just checking that.

Seeline · 02/03/2023 08:55

Or- did you start to pull out without cancelling the indicator showing you were pulled over? You should have put the other indicator on before pulling out.

Nope not on phone! Phone was clearly visible in its holder on dash. I stopped for a quick drink before driving on! That was all! So yeah maybe they were just glancing over to check I wasn’t on the phone! Thanks

Also no when pulled over had the indicator on still in the direction I pulled over. When pulling back out put other indicator on! So I started overthinking that I shouldn’t have my indicator on or something haha 🙈

They give me the dirties looks too, I feel like a criminal sometimes, and I generally am safe driver 😂

Doingmybest12 · 02/03/2023 11:01

I think they were checking you weren't on your phone. Put it out of your mind.
