There is no such thing as Mumsnetty hugs, that’s the point.

To give hugs, is very un-Mumsnetty, because we’re all ‘vipers’ (🙄).

To give a hug is to be un-Mumsnetty.

Thanks @JaneJeffer that was a good hug 😁

I assumed that hugs were not a MN thing to do, therefore offering a hug got labelled as unmumsnetty, rather than there being two types?

Ah, I see! Thanks!
What would happen if we omitted the ‘un-mumsnetty’ qualifier I wonder? Would people assume sarcasm, or maybe hound the hugger off to ‘Net Hunz’ …

Wonder if a mumsnetty hug is as affectionate as a Glasgow kiss.....🤔

saltwater1985 · 02/03/2023 02:40

You'd be banished to Nethuns if you offered a standard hug.

WandaWonder · 02/03/2023 03:07

It's the same as 'omg you are so beautiful' and 'I know you are a wonderful mum'

Yeah because I am stalking you so I can take over your life, ever seen bunny boiler movie?
