DVLA medical license renewal

Anyone know of the wait times to get their medical license renewed? I've been waiting since november, what with strikes and wait for Dr report. Can't even get through to their medical team on phone.

@Seasse appreciate your thread is now a bit old but wondering how long you had to wait in the end? I've been waiting a few months and an so frustrated with being told by the medical team on the phone that they can't give me any indication as to how much longer it will be!

I renewed mine in October 2022, took about 8/9 months as my specialist kept filling the form out with wrong dates which meant a few back and forths. I spoke to the DVLA medical team on the phone and they sent me a letter which allowed me to continue driving while the renewal was ongoing.

I had to wait for ages each time it rang - if you don’t get through keep trying. I found avoiding busy times like first thing in the morning, lunch, and after 5pm helped me get through.

If there is a delay at their end your current license will still be valid, that’s what I was told.

I was able to start driving again legally in November while my application was in. They told me I could drive while waiting. I eventually got license back in April by the time they wanted a new photo, then it takes 2 weeks before they even start to process it. A very frustrating wait, thought it would never happen.
