Anyone else counting the days until summer?

As I'm sat here with the heating on and a hot water bottle I just realised within 8 weeks I could be in the garden after a day sat in the sunshine.
It's giving me the push to get through the next few weeks.
Anyone else?

Yes definitely! Over winter now

Soubriquet · 01/03/2023 20:48

I detest summer. I can’t bear being overly hot…:but I also can’t stand this cold right now.

Too bloody cold

ThreeRingCircus · 01/03/2023 20:51

I always used to be an autumn/winter person but since getting into gardening I can't wait to get seeds sown, see the plants bursting into life and sit with a G&T in the garden in the afternoon admiring my handiwork 😄

Happilyhot · 01/03/2023 20:54

It's my first summer on HRT so at least no hot flushes to deal with.

Yup

MintJulia · 01/03/2023 20:58

Yes. It was so cold and damp today. I want sunshine, swallows, primroses and pimms in the garden. I'm fed up with cold.

BHRK · 01/03/2023 20:59

Yes me. Love the longer days and sunshine

MadameSzyszkoBohusz · 01/03/2023 21:00

Yes!! Fucking winter can fuck right off.

Dinneronmybfpillow · 01/03/2023 21:00

I can manage any cold, esp at home. Happy to have hearing off as long as I have blankets etc. But fuck me I'm done with the cold and trying to look after the kids in it. I'm skint and finances aren't going to get better any time soon as we'll have three in nursery (DTs in baby room and one in pre-school room). Between local farm park and NT place we just about survive for boredom busting but we can't afford to eat in the cafes so it's been picnics in the freezing cold for months. I'm so sick of walking the streets pushing the DTs in the pram for naps and my hands are raw from the wind.

Bring on spring.

Cannot wait! I have SAD and struggling at the mo. March dosent fill me with much hope as it's constantly grey and drizzly where I live. I feel like I'm wishing my life away

JustJustWhy · 01/03/2023 21:06

No.

Honeyroar · 01/03/2023 21:07

i just want spring. One of those sunny, dry springs. When it’s warm but not boiling hot. When the flowers are gorgeous, the fruit trees are in bloom, but there aren’t flies or big heat.

March is often the worst month for weather, but I always think a few more weeks and we’re out of winter!

DinosaurPotato · 01/03/2023 21:09

I know what you mean! First day of spring today, I love warm late spring days pottering in the garden after work.

Shampern · 01/03/2023 21:18

It's not so much the warmth I'm looking forward to as the clear skies and lighter evenings.

Wheretheskyisblue · 01/03/2023 21:23

I am counting down the days until the clocks change. In just over 3 weeks it will be getting dark at 7.30pm which will feel so much better.

motleymop · 01/03/2023 21:28

Nope. The heatwaves last summer were HELL - I had morning sickness and a toddler (and covid at one point), and was living in central London. Even looking at pictures of last summer makes me feel sick.

I adored it. Spent the summer stretched out, lizard-like, in my back garden, soaking up the heat. Can't wait for more.

I used to be exactly the same - something changed in the last couple of years!

ALongHardWinter · 01/03/2023 22:25

I must admit that I am sick of being cold nearly all of the time. BUT... on the other hand I really do not want a repeat of last summer's extreme temperatures of 40 degrees! OK,I know it was only a couple of days, but it made me feel so ill,and I was so worried about my poor cat. I'm looking forward to a nice comfortable temperature of around 22 degrees.

Crapatoa · 06/03/2023 21:07

Yes. This winter has been hideous. It's just seemed to go on and on, with everything that makes it bearable (like heating) costing a fortune. And I'd really hoped now we were into March, we'd get some warmer, dryer weather. But no, more fecking drizzle and then snow. I'm so fed up with it.
