Coil Removal / Off Contraception

This post is probably in the wrong place, and I'm almost certainly overcomplicating a basic thing.

But I've been on some form of contraception for the past 11 years, first the mini pill (i think) and currently Mirena coil #2, so coming off entirely feels like a big thing. I've also been fortunate that I've not had periods for this time, so maybe a tiny bit worried about dealing with them (which feel ridiculous as nearly 30 year old!!)

We are wanting to start trying maybe summer/autumn which feels a long way right now, but I'm sure will be here in a flash. In terms of getting a removal, it looks like you can get pregnant straight out the gate, but nothing really says if you should at least wait to adjust being off before trying.

Anyway....this is all a roundabout way of asking...what's been your experience of coming off hormonal contraception (after a long time), how long did you wait before trying, or did you start straight away?
