Hi OP. I'm not a play therapist, but I am a counsellor and am considering various specialist avenues for the future, including CYP.

What is your background?

I hope someone comes along and answers you soon.

Hi,

I'm a psychotherapist for children and young people from 5 to 25.

I am trained in play therapy approaches and use these generally with primary school age children.

My clinical supervisor is an accredited play therapist with PTUK and then went on to do the same Masters degree as me. Her view is that the Masters training is more valuable as you can work as a play therapist with it but can also work with teens/young adults which wouldn't be an option with pure play therapy training.

PTUK training is very expensive, as is a masters, so I'd think long and hard before settling on a route.

Happy to chat about it if you’re still looking. I’m a play therapist. I know this is a zombie thread.
