massage and knickers

Lovely DH bought me a massage recently. But this reminded me of the last time I had a massage at a nice hotel a few years ago where they had me take my knickers off. I have just realised this isn't normal. It's not normal is it? I didn't actually mind at all but I was wondering if this was just a very odd thing that happened to me.

To be clear, all the normal covering with a towel to protect my modesty still happened!

Did they specifically ask u to take your knickers off?if so…not normal. I suppose if someone has an issue with their gluts they might want them massaged but bum massage isn’t typical for a standard one-off massage.person would normally just tuck towel into top of your pants.(therapist here who likewise has had many massages over the years)

2022again I don't remember precisely but I think I asked if I should be fully naked and they said yes. They didn't actually mention knickers. I remember the massage did focus a little more on my bum than other ones I have had. But as I say, it was all lovely and not really different from any other massage.

I suppose it is possible I just dozily went in naked under my towel and they politely didn't mention it 🤔

I was asked to, I was quite young, female masseuse and not in the U.K. I was given a piece of dental floss to cover… well nothing really 🫣🤣

soleilblue I didn't specifically ask for anything. It was just a nice hotel and DH offered to pay for it.

Usually they offer you paper knickers, if they don’t want to get oil on your nice underwear.

I’ve been asked to take them off a few times
I normally go for a thai massage and Thai ladies they don’t like leaving the knickers on. They just put a towel around you
how do you massage quite low around the coccyx bone and maybe don’t want to get your knickers oily

If you didn’t say - I’d rather keep my knickers on, then the masseuse must have thought you were OK with being naked. I wouldn’t think on it much, tbh.

It's a cultural thing. I have had naked massages in Asia frequently. All very professional
In the UK always knickers but some do work on your glutes over knickers

I've been to spa hotels where they give you material disposible knickers this is common, but never been asked to be fully naked. Probably had over fifty massages.

I am not bothered about it at all. I was just wondering what had happened and if I had misunderstood!

They always put the kickers on the bed when they show you the room and say I'll give you a few minutes to get changed, I don't think you would have missed them?

I do massages. I always tell my clients that they can undress to their comfort. Most prefer to have nothing on. Always covered to preserve their modesty, of course.
Others may keep knickers on, especially if first timers. Some of them decide to get rid of them as the massage progresses and they relax and realise they can trust me fully.
Some are actually rather liberated and prefer to be massaged all over and without fuffling with coverings.
It's all about your comfort. Massage is to be enjoyed, one shouldn't feel uncomfortable.

Honestly, it really depends on the place and its policies. Some spas or hotels might have different protocols when it comes to clothing during massages.
I haven't had that happen to me personally, but I've heard of it before. It can vary a lot from one place to another. If you're not comfortable with it, don't hesitate to speak up next time and let them know your preferences. At the end of the day, it's all about what feels right for you. And hey, if you're still curious about massages, I tried this connective tissue massage once, and it was pretty dope.
