'Cooler' summer holidays

We are not keen on searing heat in summer so looking for holiday destinations around mid-August which don't exceed 30 degrees, ideally 25 degrees or under.

Our budget for 2 adults and 2 teens (16 and 19) is 3-5K for 1-2 weeks. We enjoy inexpensive good food in AirBnB city locations. Not really into resort/poolside or AI-type deals. Fave holidays in the past are to Porto, Rome and Valencia.

We are looking at Prague, Bruges, Munich, Berlin, Dubronik and Zagreb. Scandinavian countries would probably be too pricey.

Any thoughts of those cities or other places?

The alps.

We went loads in the summer as kids. Lots of interesting caves and rock forms to visit. The Mer du Glacé is amazing, walking inside a glacier.

You can take the cable car up Mont Blanc as well.

Plus ice skating and toboggan runs that operate in the summer.

Berlin and Munich - both great cities, but both can get very hot in even a normal summer. All cities tend to be heat traps and can be baking hot in August.

Bruges - lovely, but as mentioned already there's not a lot to it unless you make it part of a trip around the Low Countries. Also likely to be as hot as anywhere else in Europe in August.

The Baltic coast is lovely and overlooked by British tourists. Northern Germany and Poland on the southern shore, and Southern Sweden on the north. Sweden is more expensive than most of Europe but it's manageable if you self-cater, and it's very easy to drive around.

I don't know how hot they are but San Sebastian and Bilbao might suit. You can do a day trip to Guernica from Bilbao and there's lots of beaches to cool off in the sea.

Or relax in a gite in France (Normandy, Atlantic coast, then head to Paris?

August is the hottest month in Poland

It's the hottest month most places in europe, it's still significantly cooler than the med and was low 20's at best when I was looking at it.
