Hotel recommendations near Chester?

Does anyone have any recommendations for a nice hotel near Chester? Would ideally like to go to one with a pool. Had a look at a few on booking.com but the reviews seem very mixed! Thanks

We've stayed in the Crowne Plaza in Chester to visit the zoo.
Rooms are quite dated but the hotel itself was nice. It has parking & a pool. Really central & a nice rooftop bar space.
Overall for how much time we spent in the room it suited us nicely.

Thank you, that's one of the ones I had looked at. I really liked the location but some of the reviews seem really poor? I don't mind it being dated as long as it's clean!

Carden Park & Grosvenor Pulford

I stayed at Carden Park on Friday night, we weren’t there long as we’d travelled for a sporting fixture for DS on Saturday, but what we saw was fabulous. Brilliant breakfast, huge rooms, beautiful gardens.

It was clean when we were there, but I've just had a look at the recent reviews & I agree that would put me off visiting too!!

peckforton (doesn't have a pool)

We had a lovely weekend at Carden Park years ago and I'd love to go back because it looks even better now!

It depends how close to Chester itself you want to be. Carden Park is a bit of a trek back and forth to Chester. I would recommend the Doubletree. Gorgeous pool and spa. There’s also McDonald Craxton Wood.

Definitely Carden Park, although it isn’t that near Chester (it is drive-able or taxi-able). I got married there! The Grosvenor Pulford is another nice hotel and spa, again would be a drive to Chester though.

We stayed at The Queens. It was clean, and the staff were fabulous. But if it's a race day. Don't go.

Thank you, some good suggestions here and I shall have a look at them all tonight!
