How do you dispose of old frying/saucepans?

I’ve got a few old pans that have seen better days. Charity shops don’t want them. Recycling won’t collect them.

Do I have to just put them in the general waste bin?

They should go in the metal recycling at the tip, but I often wonder if "general waste" goes through a big magnet to pull out all the scrap metal, like it does in Toy Story (or was it Toy Story 2/3?). 🙂

bram it does in our local incinerator! The metal is pulled out from the ash by a giant magnet and the leftover ash is used for car park surfacing. We had an educational family day out there once.
Big metal is best taken to the tip though as it can be sorted.
