second interview 'competency based'

Thanks fro advice.

Had a teams interview last week for a job which seemed to go ok. Have a second interview later in the week, with a task to do first. The first was very definitely 'competency based' in style with classic 'give us en example of when you did...'. I did a bit of reading up about tit in advance adn identified some examples I could use fo various scenarios and the STAR technique; as It's been a while since I was in the job market - for a large corporation with procedures at any rate.

The HR woman said this will be 'competency based' too - so I'm wondering what further prep I can do - will it be yet more similar questions?

Contrastingly I've just had an interview at a very different company toady with a third generation business owner which was so informal and laid back it couldn't be more different. I don't think he'd heard of 'competence based' interviews!

Second interviews are often drilling down on bits they want to check further and team fit. Perhaps bringing in a more senior team member too.

I work for a very large org and we do competency based interviews. Second interviews are with more senior managers and are essentially a consolidation and deeper dive than the first, but it's perfectly acceptable to use the same examples.

Do you know if it will be with the same interviewer? I'd expect slightly different content if it was, but in which case I'd expect them to tell you to E.g. prepare a case study.

Thanks - its the same people interviewing. I have a brief for producing proposal for a piece of work similar to what I'd be doing in the job. Interview is half an hour and I can imagine a lot of it will be discussing this.

I really wish that we could go back to in-person interviews where there is a set time allowed for these types of things - because I will honestly spend 4+ hours doing this 'just to be sure' I'm showing my ability to its best. But I appreciate that it's a second interview so I'd better get on with it ;-)
