Driving anxiety

Hi,
I am new to this! But suffer with driving anxiety where I feel like everything I do is wrong. I then panic and think I’m going to get in trouble etc.

anyway I never use my phone whilst driving, never have & never will. Today I parked in a public car park and fully parked up in a space. whilst my engine was still on I took my phone out of the holder so the phone was in my hand whilst the engine was still running. I then switched the engine off, didn’t look or interact on my phone at all just simply took it out of the holder from the windscreen.

I am now panicking that I can get in trouble for this after the new phone law came in last year? I’m not sure where this anxiety came from but it’s draining!

will I get in trouble for that or am I massively overreacting?

thank you for any advice!

No, you won't get in trouble for that
If you just picked up your phone, then turned the engine off to leave the car, I assume? You're overthinking it, and I completely understand because I can be the same. Don't worry about it. Try and enjoy the rest of your day 😊

You are very much overthinking here. Of course you won't get into any trouble for that. You were parked in a designated space and turning the engine off!

I highly doubt that anyone else even noticed.

Thank you for putting my mind at ease! Nobody was in there cars around me but was houses near by! I was 5 mins early for where I needed to be so I simply grabbed my phone off the holder then turned engine off to use it whilst waiting. Then reading the rules it says even engine on is ‘using your phone whilst driving’ even parked up. So got myself a bit wound up!

Hi thank you for putting my mind at ease! I simply parked up handbrake on etc then picked my phone up out of the holder then proceeded to turn the engine off to use my phone ( I was 5 mins early to where I needed to be)
Was worried with the new law as it states that even parked up with engine on counts as driving using a phone. So wound myself up a bit! The joys of anxiety haha! Thank you ☺️
