Is it definitely warm enough to sunbathe and swim??

I was there four weeks ago - plenty warm enough to sunbathe and get a tan as long as you were sheltered from the breeze. Water was chilly, though plenty of other people enjoyed the pool

Thank you so much for replying - is there much else to do for children there?

Yes, been every month Jan to April. The weather is always the same: hot sun, cold wind. Take layers, waterproofs and lots of suncream. The danger is burning when the wind is up because you don't feel hot. It's Africa, so the sun is powerful.

Yes there's loads for kids and lots to see. Cultural stuff, historic stuff, active stuff. Enjoy.

For children (what age?):

Water park at Rancho Texas, and Rancho Texas itself
Camel riding
looking at the splashy waves at whatever it is called down South but West of Playa Blanca
Going up Timanfaya
Choosing tat in tourist shops in puerto del carmen
yellow submarine at Puerto calero

We used to do stuff in the morning, then lunch out, back to apartments for the afternoon and swim in the pool, out to eat early evening.
