Every time I’ve been to the loo during the last few days it’s been stinging a bit afterwards and I’ve just realised I’ve got a cut / exposed skin just above my clitoris. I’ve been applying canesten for a few days but it’s not helping.

How can I help it heel? Will sudocreme help?

Have you had a new partner recently?

Namechange927848 · 26/02/2023 21:21

@Dinersaur I am single but yes I did sleep with someone new. I’ve done an sti test and it’s negative.

My first thought was herpes, which wouldn't show. When did you sleep with them?

How old are you? Could be thinning skin due to perimenopause or breastfeeding. You can get a low dose local oestrogen cream or pessaries from your gp for this - if it's peri, you'll need to keep on using it regularly.
If not, and not an STI another possibility is an autoimmune disease called lichen sclerosis. It's often misdiagnosed but it's very important to get treatment. It can happen to women of any age.

I am 29. Just spoke to the GP who wasn’t very helpful and just told me to keep applying canesten and sudocreme

Maybe consider sti clinic and a swab for herpes.

What does it look like? You say a cut/exposed skin. Is it in a line like a cut, or more like a little circle, like a mouth ulcer?

Sometimes vigorous eh hem, activity can cause small tears. I'd personally be cautious about slathering loads of creams on and lean more towards rigorous hygiene - rinse with tepid water when you go to the loo and gentle patting to dry and let it heal. If the STI tests are negative and the pain is localised to the cut then the chances are it's nothing more nefarious...

I had this once after some rather energetic sex with DH, I bought some special gel/cream over the counter after speaking Fi the pharmacist. It healed after a few days
