What tog duvet do you have?

I am looking to buy a new duvet (my current one is 4 years old and was only a cheap Asda one). It's 13.5 tog and I use that all year round, and don't find it warm enough in the winter. But apparently 13.5 is a winter duvet.

4.5 in summer, 10.5 in winter. We also have a single sized knitted blanket for me, & a full sized quilted blanket.

DD has a summer & a winter duvet too, since we bought her winter duvet she doesn't want 4 extra blankets on top. Her room regularly goes below 10c at night in winter.

We now have an 18 tog duvet with teddy bear fleece bedding. Warm and cosy and heating off earlier than it used to. Use a 10 in summer.

2 tog cotton one in summer, 4.5 spring and autumn, 9 at the moment. And the bedroom window is open all night!

DH has a 15 tog as he will apparently freeze to death under anything less, although I switch it for a 2.5 one in the summer.
I just have a wool blanket and a top sheet as I get too warm under a duvet of any tog, but I have just the sheet in summer.

30 tog feather for depths of winter if needed
13.5 for autumn, most of the winter, spring
4.5 tog summer unless it's a thousand degrees then a sheet and a fan

Zola1 · 26/02/2023 20:56

13.5 and a 7

10.5 and 4.5. The 10.5 one is a bit too hot right now but we’re not ready for the 4.5 yet.

10.5 down tog duvet in winter, no heating in bedroom and windows ALWAYS open. 4 tog down to 1 tog in summer. (SE England)

I have 10.5 tog in winter and 4.5 in summer. Last year i got a 7.5 tog for spring/autumn which is useful. I did have a more expensive 10.5 tog winter duvet but it was too warm for me. It seems as if better quality duvets are warmer, regardless of tog.

13.5 tog down duvet all year round. In winter we add extra cotton quilts/throws and a fleece blanket if necessary.

Even if really hot in summer I need my duvet to snuggle up to.

We have a wool duvet too but it's nowhere near warm enough so that ended up in the spare room.

Oakbeam · 27/02/2023 00:23

13.5, I think. Plus a blanket on top.

In the summer I take the blanket off.

BigBoysDontCry · 27/02/2023 00:28

2.5 at the moment and 1 in the summer. Sleep naked but will put a t-shirt on if it's very cold. No heating on at night, window on the latch lock unless it's really windy. It's a 20 odd year old house.

Adult DSs are the same, we all sleep hot.

VeniVidiWeeWee · 27/02/2023 00:59

1.5.

Summer and winter.

DramaAlpaca · 27/02/2023 01:03

2.0 all year round. One reason - menopause.

aramox1 · 27/02/2023 08:09

13 tog down in winter, wool 8-12 most of the rest of the year. The down one is 25 + years old.
