Is your marriage certificate framed?

lucysmam · 26/02/2023 16:23

If so, can I ask where you bought your frame, please?

Grandad would like to frame his and Nanna's wedding certificate, so I bought what I thought was a suitably sized frame yesterday. Turns out it was actually a picture of a rose, not a frame with a printed picture iyswim 🙈🤣

Thank you 🙂

Mines folded up in a box with the wedding album.

Cant you just take the picture of the rose out if the frame is the right size?

JustStopOilyPoshKids · 26/02/2023 16:25

No

@Poisonrunningthroughmyveins there's no glass in the one I bought - it's literally a picture in a frame. I couldn't see that through the cellophane wrapper on it 🙄

Take it to a framers?

Mine got lost, I had to send it away for proof of ID and they "misplaced" it. Just got the boring printed copies now. I should never have sent the proper one but it was a stressful time.

Bogeyes · 26/02/2023 16:33

Mine was framed in a dustbin

TheNoodlesIncident · 26/02/2023 16:44

I hope you can return the rose picture! I'm sure somewhere like Wilko's will have something suitable at a sensible price. I'd measure it first if it's not a standard size like A4.

I don't think it's a typical thing to do. We haven't framed ours even though it's in Greek so more unusual.

sidsgranny · 26/02/2023 16:50

For something important like that take it to a proper picture framers who will use conservation mountboards that won't stain the certificate. You would also be wise to have UV glass in it to prevent fading.

(speaking as a framer.....)

UsingChangeofName · 26/02/2023 18:26

No, folder up in a drawer.

but if it is important to him, I'd take it to a framer to make one. They aren't really standard size like a certificate you would earn for something

*folded

cocksstrideintheevening · 26/02/2023 18:29

No, it's probably in the fire box but I actually have no idea

lucysmam · 26/02/2023 18:36

Thank you, I'll have a look for a local framer for it I think. Nanna passed away on Monday of last week & he's decided he'd like some things out to remember her by.

It’s in the filing cabinet. Haven’t looked at it in years.

Cosycover · 26/02/2023 18:39

I don't even know where mine is

Eas1lyd1stracted · 26/02/2023 18:39

No but there are quite a few on etsy as well as a beautiful wooden storage box. Mines in a drawer. We gor married last year and haven't got round to updating half our stuff

countdowntonap · 26/02/2023 18:41

What a lovely gesture. Your poor grandad, sending lots of love to him and you. If you measure the certificate can you get a frame bespokely made on Etsy?

GulfCoastBeachGirl · 26/02/2023 18:46

Bogeyes · 26/02/2023 16:33

Mine was framed in a dustbin

😂

Can't argue with that, LOL!

Never thought to frame mine, don't think I've ever seen it done TBH.

MaMisled · 26/02/2023 18:55

Ours is laminated....in two halves. There was a small episode the day after our wedding and I ripped it in half! 25 years married now.

ErrolTheDragon · 26/02/2023 19:04

I can see why your grandad would like his framed, but I've never heard of anyone doing this. Just as well ours isn't, we had to send it off to DHs pension company last week. Grin

Wishimaywishimight · 26/02/2023 19:06

Married 18 years this year, the photos are still in envelope, really must buy an album! The cert is in a folder.

winelove · 26/02/2023 19:12

I use easyframe to frame some stuff. You can get the exact size and mount for it.

MotherOfHouseplants · 26/02/2023 19:15

You can get a commemorative marriage certificate from the GRO specifically for display / framing assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/778269/CMC_Feb19.pdf

clpsmum · 26/02/2023 19:25

No but my divorce one will be xx

PuttingDownRoots · 26/02/2023 19:30
