I've been watching my team home and away since the 1980s. We had a (very) brief spell in the Championship but know our place is really yoyoing between L1&L2 😆
The 80s were dark days for football, but it really had got a grip of things and we've seen very little trouble for several decades now. What there was was generally from middle aged throwbacks from the bad old days. TBH even the racist and sexist "banter" was very rare, with supporters making it clear to others when it isn't OK.
Recently though we've seen new groups of young people out to cause trouble. Some violence, a lot of offensive chanting. I've also noticed the Burberry scarf uniform appears to be back!
I know the FA is running a campaign about Cocaine fueled trouble and maybe that is the case at the Premiership grounds where the money is but I don't think that's what's happening with these kids.
Has anyone else seen this in the lower leagues and what is to be done?! We need young blood at games where the average age of fans has been increasing for decades, but...
