Hi looking to visit a friend in Birmingham and wonder how safe it is to park on the street near Alcester street ? Any recommendations for free parking? Train fares are ludicrous .

Have you looked on the Parkopedia website?

I’ve parked around there. It’s not the nicest bit of town but you should be ok.

Danikm151 · 26/02/2023 09:11

I’d advise caution there have been a spate of robbing cars for parts in digbeth atm.
there are nearby carparks that are £3.50 all day

InstagramBitchWife · 26/02/2023 09:11

I wouldn't park there tbh.

Can you not park somewhere like the snow hill multi storey? That's not too expensive and at least there's cctv.

QuinnofHearts · 26/02/2023 09:12

Where are you coming from? I could help with some advice with trains and trams. Tamworth has a bit of free parking, 10 mins on the train and it's around £9?

Tbh I wouldn't leave my car anywhere in Brum as car has been stripped for parts recently. I usually park at the bullring/Chinese quarter car park as it's safe. There's a NCP car park near the courthouse too that I've used.

It’s for a few days though so a car park will cost a fortune.

Thanks that’s helpful to know. I don’t know Birmingham so not sure where the car parks are in relation to where we are staying. I’ve had a look at parkopedia. That’s helpful.

Does she live near Alcester street?

Agree with others I wouldn't park anywhere in Digbeth given the recent car related crime that's been happening

If it's for a few days and thus parking will be extortionate I would consider finding a road somewhere in Moseley to park and getting the 50 bus to where you need to be.

JofraArchersFastestBall · 26/02/2023 09:33

Selly oak train station has a large, well lit, free car park. Trains into town are regular and not very expensive.

Or you could find street parking further out on the same cross city line, depending on where you're driving in from.

TheGirlInTheGreenDress · 26/02/2023 09:33

If it’s for a couple of days then I rescind my advice from above! I’d leave it there for a couple of hours during the day but wouldn’t leave my car there overnight.
