A cat scratched my sons face. He just walked by. I am so afraid it will leave a scar. Will it?

@ScoobyBooby do you remember how long it took for it to fade?

@OlympicsRock2 is massaging still a good idea? I read so many different opinions about that.

Was around 6/8 months until it was completely gone and we can only see it now if we look very very close and know what you’re looking for! It’s not visible intact I actually forgot about it until I seen your post x

aredhel it’s been 3 months and it’s still there, it is fading but slowly. He wears the silicone for at least 7 hours a day.

Believe me when it happened I spent a load of time reading posts on here from other worried parents and the general consensus was that some scars can take a good few months to fade. And cat cuts are the worst, I’ve read.

But I’m sure your sons scratch will heal and fade a lot quicker as it does not look deep. My DS cut was deeper although urgent care said stitching/glueing not needed.

I think it will scar. Put the cat up for adoption as she's not child friendly.

Agosleeflorrick · 04/03/2023 11:13

Even if it does scar, eventually it will fade to a silvery line which won’t be noticeable.

Did you even read the OP's posts?

Exactly. Why are people so dramatic about scars. Kids are going to get scars at some point!

Ilikedyouonce · 04/03/2023 15:48

@Scalottia yes!!!!

How is your sons face doing OP?

Aredhel · 05/03/2023 20:35

@Agosleeflorrick it is too early to tell, but I will update later. We are now at day 20 and it is still very visible.

@secular39 may I ask, why a mineral sunscreen?

OP posts:
secular39 · 06/03/2023 21:56

@Aredhel it is kinder on baby's skin than chemical sunscreens.

Agosleeflorrick · 08/03/2023 16:45

aredhel how is your son? I hope his face is healing.

Aredhel · 16/03/2023 22:31

@Agosleeflorrick it is not improving much unfortunately. I am really worried now 😞

“Aredhel” try not to worry it will take time. Is it still quite red? It can take months to fade but fade it will. Perhaps you can’t see much of a difference as you see your son everyday, do you have an updated picture?

Reva03 · 04/08/2023 21:48

Can I ask, did this scar? My cat has done exactly the same to my 10 month old yesterday and I’m so worried it will scar. It looks identical to your sons

Seriously, A&E?? What a ridiculous suggestion

That's why there are massive waiting lists in A & E
