Does anyone still use a Bullet Journal?

I am interested as I would like to be organised and I remember people finding them very useful. I was wondering if people are still using them as a tool.

Yes. I use digital for my calendars etc, butjust need paper when brainstorming- my phone is way too distracting.

Ponderingwindow · 25/02/2023 23:28

Yes, worked through today’s chore list by checking everything off and making several notes. It helps me feel less scattered and less overwhelmed. When I slack off on using it, the same tasks seem harder.

Thank you for your replies - bought two new notebooks in Paperchase today. Was hoping to start some sort of bullet journaling.

I love stationery, and I've started bullet journaling more than once. Now, everything I do for work is online, and I've forsaken notebooks. Like most things, I think you need quite a long period of using one to make it work,

handsoffate · 25/02/2023 23:59

I do for work, it’s the only way I’ve ever found to stay organised.

BitOutOfPractice · 26/02/2023 00:01

I do. Every day. I find that it helps me to be organised, plan my time, and I also find the act of journaling really soothing in itself

BitOutOfPractice · 26/02/2023 00:02

Just to add, I use it in conjunction with a digital calendar and project management tool.

Moomoola · 26/02/2023 00:02

Thanks for reminding me of the bullet journal idea op! And the inspiration handsof I really struggle to find a system that works, and am fed up of missing stuff and losing countless dieires, paper lists scraps etc. currently write things in the glass in the front door!

I use a mixture of online calendar, Simplenote for lists, and what was my bullet journal as a sort of list central. I've got the same large notebook I started in about 2018, and it's invaluable for ongoing lists- eg books/films/tv I've watched and want to watch; records for things like when I last had a haircut so I know when the next one is due; when I paid the milk bill and to what date; what steps I need to take for specific things eg co-ordinating building works on the house; lists of meals everyone likes to help meal planning.
I found a tear-off monthly calendar that I glue in on to the next available page, fill that in as far as possible, and start making notes next to it - I still find a paper diary/calendar easier to read than a digital one.
I find it quite mindful and relaxing to plan things ahead with the calendar and list pages in front of me at least monthly if not more often, and it helps keep track of progress. It is really useful to have everything in one book and not be scrabbling around with bits of paper
But I don't do the colouring/prettifying stuff any more.

BuddhaAtSea · 26/02/2023 05:32

Yes, for my finances. And I still use tape and coloured pens.

Moomoola · 26/02/2023 21:29

Wow, just googled bullet journal. You can do a course! The guy has made a whole industry out of a notebook.

Velvetbee · 26/02/2023 21:50

Yes, it keeps me sane. When I’m feeling overwhelmed even stroking the pages makes me feel more in control.
May have over-shared a bit there.

PersonaNonGarter · 26/02/2023 22:04

I haven’t done mine for a while but I love it. I really enjoy watching YouTube tutorials of doodling for each month. So calm and restful.

SquirrelSoShiny · 26/02/2023 22:07

It helped me a lot till I lost it. Now I stick to digital.

BitOutOfPractice · 26/02/2023 23:11

@Velvetbee id already mentioned how soothing I find it so overshare away! 😆

in return, I’ll admit how satisfying I find it to flick through and see all the lovely pages go past!
