Salou to Barcelona

I've got a trip booked to Salou and wanted to go to Barcelona for the day. I can't seem to find any train times and any organised trips by TUI seem to include a walk around the city with a rep. I just want to do my own thing. My question is has anyone caught a train/bus and how did you find out information about it. The internet isn't being my friend! Thanks.

Google maps will give you public transport options, however, it may be easier to go with the organised tour. You could hire a car and drive, but then might be more expensive than the tour.

It's just over 2 hours each way on the train, easily doable as long as you don't mind a bit of a trip (about 3.5 by coach)

@jackstini have you actually caught the train? Every time I look it just says no trains available. I just wanted a rough idea of times etc as my DS fancied seeing the Nou Camp.

The station in Salou centre closed down a couple of years ago so you need to search for Portaventura - Salou station instead.

@DuckBushCityLimit yes I saw that. Just struggling to find any kind of timetable for some reason.

Looks like four trains a day in each direction on weekdays, a couple more at the weekends. Earliest from Salou is just after 10am and takes an hour and a half to get to Barcelona-Sants.

We got the train from Salou to Barca. Don’t recall how we found the train times. Could you go to the station before hand?

The mistake we made was getting off at the wrong station. We were worried we’d stay on too long, but did the opposite. You want to get off at the great big, all singing, all dancing train station right at the centre of Barca - you can’t miss it. We got off at a shitty old underground.

Barcelona - Sants is the main station
