Teenage boy grooming

My lovely DS16 needs help with men's products. I'm a bit clueless about what people use these days. NB he doesn't like strongly-scented stuff and has slightly sensitive ski so, for example, he uses 'Simple' shower wash, shampoo, conditioner.

  • decent deodorant. Simple brand doesn't work (in his opinion). Polycotton shirts and nylon blazer not helpful. I don't want him stinking of Lynx though...
  • some kind of facial wash (he has mild acne)
  • some kind of facial moisturiser (does he need it?)
  • spot cream - not sure about this. They're not red, angry, pus-filled. I seem to remember topical spot cream can be irritating and drying. Maybe we need to let teenage hormones do their thing.
  • (he shaves from time to time with electric shaver. He's blonde and facial hair is present but not very fast-growing or bristly. Early days yet.)
  • something (not too scented) to put in his hair when he blow dries it to give it some shape. He has short hair which is a bit longer on top. washes it every day and gets annoyed because it's too soft and floppy.

Thank you!

Mitchum deodorant is good, effective but not too stinky.

The Clinique anti blemish skincare stuff was very good with my DS’s teenage skin and they do a 7 day trial pack. Definitely use a moisturiser, with SPF. If Clinique is a bit out of budget, the L’Oreal for men charcoal face washes and moisturisers were also good.

older DS has a brand called Harry’s and uses the taming cream

Thank you @LizzieVereker
I'll look at Clinique. I don't mind splashing out a bit. I used to spend a fortune at the Clinique counter - funny to be back there again....

Thanks for the other recommendations too!

I like nivea for men deodorant.

i also recommend looking into a merkur razor when he needs it, so much cheaper than disposable gillet type razors with expensive cartridges.

I use dermal cream as a face wash

My 2 DS (19 & 15) use Nivea for men shower gel and deodorant. Eldest has mild eczema and this doesn't irritate his skin.
They also use the ordinary niacinamide & moisturisers to keep breakouts under control.
