Phone in washing machine

I was thinking about the time my brother put his girlfriend's phone in the washing machine and blamed me (I'd gone on holiday with my parents, son and nephew, he wanted to wash their bedding before we got back and I didn't tell him we were on our way back early enough, so he was angry at me).

I was recalling this whilst gathering clothes for washing. I'd used a bag to carry it down, as I'm still recovering from surgery and put my phone with them.

After switching the machine on, I went to get my phone and realised it must be in the machine.

I turned the machine off (it had started to fill with water, but only for a couple of minutes).

Some clothes were wettish, but the phone had one drop on the case. The inside of the case was dry (it has my vaccine cards in, which were bone dry).

The phone was still on and responding, so I turned it off. I cannot take out the battery as it's a sealed unit, but took out the sim and memory cards.

The charging port appears to be dry, as I put some kitchen paper in it and it didn't get wet.

I'm leaving it in a warm room, but will have to wait for DH to get home as I can't remember what card goes where.

How likely is it to be OK? Any positive stories?

Try putting it into a bowl of rice and leaving it in the airing cupboard for a while.

Many phones are waterproof these days, maybe check your model. Hopefully it'll be ok.

I dont think its advised to use rice as residue from the rice will get in the charging ports.

If the phone isn't wet then its unlikely to be affected at all
