Accessing M&S products when Ocado don't deliver to you and...

Your local M&S don't stock the product or has even shut down.

Any ideas on what to do? I like a particular dark chocolate bar from there but my local M&S no longer stock it and Ocado don't deliver to my area. The next-nearest M&S is not much bigger and very difficult for me to access (bus + 1 hr train + 20 mins bus), no guarantee they'd have it, either. All for a chocolate bar, too.

Why don't M&S have ordering to store for this kind of thing?

Anyone else missing M&S products that are now difficult for them to access?

Are those different from the two-pack that are on the shelves in a clear plastic pack?

Is there someone that can buy a few and post them to you?

Sounds ridiculously obvious but can you not ask a friend or relative within M&S shopping / Ocado delivery distance to bulk buy for you?

Alternatively - it’s unlikely M&S are growing some exclusive bean, so why not google the variety and find another brand that uses it?

tulips27 · 25/02/2023 12:05

I don't have anyone I could ask, no.

Does anyone else need to know what the chocolate bar is?!

dontgobaconmyheart · 25/02/2023 12:09

If there's nobody to post you some I'm not sure there's much you can do really.

Perhaps wait until an occasion when you're somewhere that does have an M&S and stock up at that time (day trip, holiday, train station etc). Chocolate should have a fairly long best before date.

Yes I wanted to know this Grin

Have you checked Deliveroo? There might be an m&s garage shop that is covered near you and stocks it.

SurpriseSparDay · 25/02/2023 12:28

@tulips27 Do you truly not have a single friend, relative or colleague living in another part of the country who might do you this small favour?

I’m sorry if that’s so. If you are so very alone I can see the lack of a particular chocolate bar might be a major irritation.

As I said - investigate the bean. Other brands will also be using it.

Well, likewise I feel sorry for you for being so insensitive and rude.

@tulips27
I'd make the trip and stock up if I was that bothered but to be honest I'd try some others perhaps?
M&S do some gift chocolate on their website in letterbox gifts it would be worth checking them.

SpringIsSpringing23 · 25/02/2023 12:39

Any ideas on what to do?

Without?

NeverApologiseNeverExplain · 25/02/2023 12:42

Do you ever have to go to a big city for another reason? Next time you are going away, research local M and S that may stock it and make it a specific part of your trip, then stock up.

I used to have to do this with British stuff I liked when I lived outside the UK.

Bluevelvetsofa · 25/02/2023 12:53

There are several varieties of M&S dark chocolate on eBay and a site called British Essentials. I imagine that might be for ex pats. Maybe worth a look.

This is just a mind bogglingly rude response. You do know that not everyone living in the UK was born here and may not have the same network and support you do? The OP was asking about chocolate ffs and here you are denigrating her social status. SMH.

TheSnugglyDuckling · 25/02/2023 12:56

Oh and OP if you can I’d make a day of it, go to a big city and check out a few different M&S stores and stock up. You could also speak to the manager of your local and see if he/she might be able to order it in. (Don’t ask don’t get, right?)

Theunamedcat · 25/02/2023 13:03

Make a day trip of it and stock up? I used to go to places like primark and the big asda to buy kids clothing I woukd save up and buy extra sizes when I did go to make it worth the trip

Riapia · 25/02/2023 13:11

Oh dear OP this is AIBU any views expressed on here are not necessarily those of the people posting them.
