Good Morning All! What's everyone up to today?

I'm just enjoying my first cuppa of the day in peace. I have the window open so I can hear the birds outside & it looks lovely outside.

Dd1 is away with school and currently getting ready to try her hand at archery!

We're going to treat dd2 to dinner out at a place of her choosing and a spot of shopping if she sees anything she likes. She already knows she'd like a particular copy of Frankenstein.

I need to keep an eye out for something suitable to wear to Nanna's funeral while we're out, and nip in the wool shop for some green aran to make a broccoli hat for my classroom colleague.

I doubt we'll have a proper tea when we get in, probably just chill & pick at whatever's in the house.

I'll start broccoli hat tonight & might see if dd2 wants to put a film on while I'm doing that.

What about all of you? 🙂

Morning @lucysmam that's sounds like a lovely day but sorry to hear about your nan ☹️

We are currently rushing round trying to get everyone out for a big day out, going into a big city to go to a museum for the day.

McDonald's for tea for DC on way home and DH and I might get a takeaway later on, or may have early McDonald's with DC not sure yet.

Large white wine later to recover 😂

lucysmam · 25/02/2023 09:45

Thanks @Decafflatteplease , we're in that strange limbo place of can't really do much without her death cert but there are millions of little things to think about too atm.

Which museum are you going to?

Morning @lucysmam so sorry to hear about your Nanna. I hope she went peacefully and that people celebrate her life raucously 😀

I'm heading to a farm shop for breakfast with OH and to get some nice food things to take home. Then M & S for food staples. Afterward OH and I are going to sit down to do a house project budget for the rest of the year including building an office in the garden and new electrical wiring.

I’ll likely take a well deserved nap after that then start catching up on work.

Have a beautiful day all!

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 25/02/2023 09:50

Good morning Lucysmam. Firstly condolences on the death of your nan. It's always an unsettling business before a funeral.
Today I have changed bedding and washed it and been to Aldi. I've had two coffees and I'm on my first cup of tea. I did most of the housework yesterday, so only ironing today which won't take long. I'm going to do a little pruning in the garden. I try to do something each day to stop it getting wild. Then later on, I'm looking after dgs2 for an hour as dgs1 has a party. Sil is working so I'll watch dgs2 until he gets in, then scarper. Fish cakes for dinner.

GilmoreGirl58 · 25/02/2023 09:53

Sorry to hear about your nanna OP 💐

Sitting having a lovely peaceful cup of coffee before my almost 2 year old wakes up.
We’re taking him to the aquarium today and I get to drive my fancy new car there! Probably a McDonalds for lunch and then a nice glass of wine and movies later. May try and fit in a quick food shop as the fridge and pantry are looking a little bare!

Hope everyone has a wonderful Saturday!

Justonedayatatime11 · 25/02/2023 10:01

Still in bed with a cup of tea. Weekends are currently the only days we don't have contractors in at silly o clock rebuilding the house so it's nice to be able to laze a bit!
Will go to Sainsburys later in my fruitless hunt for tomatoes, and something for tea tonight. Then I'm off to the hairdressers and hoping DH and DD will make me some GF sausage rolls and scones whilst I'm gone!

Kim82 · 25/02/2023 10:02

Good morning everyone, I’m so sorry to hear about your Nanna lucysmam. 😢

I’ve no real plans today thankfully. I’m shattered after being away with work Mon-Wed then catching up with the backlog of work Thursday and Friday. Plus my B12 injection is due in 2 weeks so my energy levels are depleted - I always struggle for the couple of weeks before my jab.

Our frozen food didn’t arrive with the Tesco shop this morning so I’ve arranged the refund for that and I’ll have to nip out and get the missing items later today when I can be bothered getting dressed. I don’t think the dc or dh have any plans today either. Dh is currently at work and often goes out on a Saturday evening but he’s not mentioned anything this week.

We’re having an easy tea of hotdogs and onions, skin on fries and corn on the cob then I’ll sprawl on the sofa under a blanket all evening before bed.

lucysmam · 25/02/2023 10:03

@Justonedayatatime11 do you have a local market? The stall I use on ours are advertising that they have no shortages atm - but people have taken to buying multiple cucumbers at once

Morning! Sorry for your loss @lucysmam. I'm waiting for DH to get back from Parkrun for breakfast, we've got a stand up comedy show this afternoon then out for a few

FettleOfKish · 25/02/2023 10:04

Posted too soon! Out for a few drinks and dinner with friends after Smile

Netcam · 25/02/2023 10:05

DH took the dog out while I sat up in bed and did the online grocery shopping. Then he made us both cappuccino and brought it up to bed. Now he's going out for a long run, my teens are still asleep and I am contemplating my favourite (not) activity of cleaning the bathrooms. This is a regular Saturday morning for us. I will fit in some exercise later today and DH cooks dinner on Saturdays so I get a night off cooking.

Chevyimpala67 · 25/02/2023 10:05

No plans at all which is unusual!
Cleaned yesterday
Might pop to the shops

saffy56 · 25/02/2023 10:08

I have literally just got up as was out with friends till 1am last night so having cup of tea and toast before hanging the washing out. This afternoon dh and dd will be at the football so I will try to go for a 5k run before a shower and will try to read a bit of my book. I am out again tonight but don't actually know if I can do 2 nights in a row - at the moment a night in front of the TV sounds so appealing as I have had such a busy week! Getting too old for 2 nights out in a row!!!

Justonedayatatime11 · 25/02/2023 10:08

Sadly not @lucysmam but I may detour to the local farm shop and see if they have any. Craving tomatoes like mad, typical that right now I can't buy them anywhere!

MummyInTheNecropolis · 25/02/2023 10:12

Sorry for your loss @lucysmam Flowers

I am excited about today. I have the house to myself for the morning, so have just had a nice Danish pastry for breakfast, after unpacking the Tesco delivery (which contained cucumber and tomatoes, yay)!
It was my birthday on Thursday, and my sister’s gift to me was an appointment at a nice hair salon near me so I’m going there at 12 for a much needed cut and blow dry. This evening I’m going out for a birthday meal with my closest friends and sister at a Turkish restaurant followed by cocktails in a local bar. I can’t wait!

My house is a bit of a tip and could do with a big clean but that will have to wait for another day.

JohnnyMcGrathSaysFuckOff · 25/02/2023 10:17

Sorry to hear about your nanna @lucysmam

We are at swimming with 3x DC. Woke up to find scaffolders erecting scaffolding outside window at 7am - work doesn't start till the 6th!!

Then MnS for lunch stuff, poss playground beforehand - then baking twins' birthday cake! They are 5 now.

Lovingtheglitter · 25/02/2023 10:21

Today I have hoovered dusted and mopped from top to bottom as we have our first house viewing and I want it to look so good they will want to snap it up! So stressy selling a house!

Starlighttwinkle · 25/02/2023 10:24

Sounds like a wonderful way to spend your day. Does your DD miss her sister or is she glad for some one on one time?

DP and I are taking our puppy to a secure field for a runaround. Then we will go to the farm shop and stock up on some lovely fresh produce. We will probably treat ourselves to coffee and cake at the farm shop cafe too!

Genie321 · 25/02/2023 10:24

Sorry for your loss OP.

My eldest is sitting with me in a blankie. My youngest is playing upstairs. We have some shopping to do but not much else. Looking forward to doing nothing this evening. Staying at home is underrated!

Lovely thread!

bloodywhitecat · 25/02/2023 10:26

This weekend is mainly about getting through it. It is one year ago since I said the hardest of goodbyes to DH.

Today I am waiting for DD and her husband to arrive for a bit of moral support.

Tomorrow DD is watching my current fosterling so I can go and say hi to my last three little ones with their respective families. I am looking forward to that! Especially as all three of them were a part of DH's life at a time when he was living life to the fullest with cancer.

Monday is the actual anniversary but it doesn't feel as hard as tomorrow does it is also my DS's birthday so I have popped him a card in the post and hope to see him soon.

lucysmam · 25/02/2023 10:43

@MummyInTheNecropolis I love the, very rare, days I get the house to myself. Doesn't happen often though as the girls school is literally ten mins or so in the opposite direction from my work & our holidays are the same.

@Starlighttwinkle she misses her I think, she went to bed very early last night whereas when dd1's at home they're in and out of each others rooms all evening. Hopefully a relaxed busy day & film later will mean she doesn't feel it so much iyswim.

@bloodywhitecat I hope you get through the weekend ok 💐 and enjoy your visit with your fosterlings.

I managed to get a lie in until 10am before my 1 year old woke up!!

Just having breakfast now while she watches twirlywoos.

When DH gets home from work I'm meeting some friends for a meal and drinks.

DH will take DD to the park!!

Squaffle · 25/02/2023 11:19

Morning all, so sorry to hear about your Nanna @lucysmam.

As usual I am with DD at swimming, but this time not watching as they have said we can do longer do so from the lovely big windows in the changing rooms and instead have to go to the cafe which also contains a soft play… it’s absolute bedlam in there so I’m hiding in a changing room 😂

Home for coffee and lunch, need to pop to the shops later and DH is out tonight so will get something I like for tea which I’ll have with a glass of wine and a film. Tomorrow DD has a birthday party and wants to go to a local playground. Nice, quiet weekend; just what we all need!

Lola001 · 25/02/2023 12:26

We've been up bright and early with DD this morning, a lovely walk to the library and a bit of shopping, were off for lunch with friends shortly after a cup of tea and watch of Gogglebox tomorrow I'm having a day with my friend and then Monday were going to the aquarium.

Bluevelvetsofa · 25/02/2023 13:06

Aldi here had every type of tomato in good quantities yesterday.

It’s washing and cleaning today. Bedding has been done and is draped, clothes are now in the machine. Have done dusting and hoovering downstairs, need to do upstairs.

Having a break and will put the coffee machine on shortly. DH is chopping stuff in the garden. I need to decide on a crafting project for later on.
