Is the pain of a hysterectomy different to the pain of a C-section?

I read a thread in Aibu about C-sections and how people are moving around and doing things with little pain after a few days. I've had an abdominal hysterectomy. I always thought the two operations were quite similar (cut in the same place/womb removed/womb stitched up. My pain was horrific and movement was severely restricted for a very long time. I was discharged after a week on paracetamol. I can remember 2 weeks later, gripping the kitchen counter telling dh I couldn't bear the pain it was so severe. It took me a good 6 months to be able to move freely and do anything I wanted like before surgery.

So am I mistaken, is C-section pain generally much less than a hysterectomy? I always thought they were the same.
