Split heartbeat

Hi all,

Does anyone have experience of being told they have a split heartbeat?

I went to the GP today for something unrelated and had my heart listened to. GP said she could hear a tiny extra noise which she referred to as a split heartbeat. She told me there was a very big chance it was nothing to be concerned about (just a variation on normal) and referred me for an ECG and blood tests, but I’m now feeling very anxious (suffer from anxiety anyway).

Does anyone have any experience / insight?

Thanks

Can you feel them?

I get ectopic heartbeats sometimes and they feel like split beats. It normally happens when my weight changes. I had a cardiology referral and it was all fine.

@MyOwnVolt No, although i have had palpitations in the past (a few years ago) which were checked with an ecg then and all fine. Is an ectopic heartbeat the same as a split beat?

Thanks very much

I’m not sure tbh but that’s what mine felt like - sort of your normal da dum but with an extra beat on the end.
