Weird dreams - what could be causing these?

Dd is 18 and at uni. She's been having weird dreams for the past ten days. She says they feel like like sleep paralysis - she knows she's dreaming, but she feels like she’s awake, yet she can’t wake up. She feels drunk/really dizzy in her dream, like everything's spinning, and she says her thought processes are the same as when you have too many drinks - blurry, forgetting how to do normal things. 🤔 Sounds very weird. She often feels sick afterwards because of the dizziness, and she can’t get back to sleep, but she feels fine during the day.

She doesn't do drugs. She had a few drinks twice over the last ten days. Doesn't sound like it's related.

I have recommended good sleep hygiene, no drinking, eating tea early, and to see what happens.

Has anyone heard of anything like this? What could be causing it?

Is she pregnant? I have really bizarre dreams like this when pregnant.

Anxiety

Not pregnant.

Anxiety - could be. We've just had some bad news, health-wise, about a family member.
