Why can’t I renew my driving license online?

I’ve tried twice now, all details correct, my passport is brand new (too new?), but my details can’t be verified and I have to spend more money now as I have to drive to a post office to pick up the correct form and post it.
Online is cheaper.

When they implemented these digital platforms they over complicated it. Why does it matter if you are Ms, Mrs or Miss?

Ive had a very hard time renewing my passport. I’m spending $10k to take my 3 children back to the UK to do a same day appointment. It’s ridiculously complicated now it’s all online and ‘computer said no’ is a legitimate answer because staff have not been empowered to employ common sense. I feel very sorry for the staff and can only imagine the abuse hurled at them by very frustrated people who can get something basic completed. Thankfully I have another two passports I can travel on so I’m not reliant on the passport office.

Out of sheer nosiness

Why are you traveling with your DC? ( I guess childcare?) why are you coming to get one if you can travel on your other ones?

@ivs

i live abroad and having two other passports resulted in me needing to attend in person. The embassy in my current country of residence wouldn’t process me without taking all passports from me for up to 3 months. I had a sick father at the time and needed to be able to travel to him.

It was absolutely ridiculous to have such a process. I flew everyone to the UK because their father was working and had to be available to travel. My nanny at the time didn’t do overnights.

I got it done at the passport office no problem with a same day appointment and yes I showed up with all 3 children. It was the Liverpool office so it was easy to make it a fun day for the children. It was the day my eldest discovered Lewis’! The children love the cafe there.

If you’re a British citizen it’s not correct to enter the country on a different nationality. It’s not a big deal because I don’t work in the UK and each trip is less than 90 days. However you should always have your passport renewed when it reaches the last year of expiry. Lots of countries don’t allow entry with less than 6 months remaining on your passport.
