How do you condition your long hair?

How often do you condition your long, waist length hair & what do you use?

So many products can leave long hair feeling clogged up and heavy.

thanks in advance :-)

i don't have had not quite waist length hair for 50 years I rarely if ever condtion but if I do i use aussie love your lengths I mostly just use that shampoo every 4-5 days

I wash my hair every day….always have, always will. I’ve always had very long hair and thankfully it’s always been in very good condition so daily washing is obviously ok for my hair. I use the Aussie hair shampoo and conditioner most of the time but I swap between shampoos quite often.
Once a week I rinse my hair with apple cider vinegar and that leaves it feeling really light and smooth. I also always rinse with cold water, only use a hairdryer once my hair is 80% dry and don’t use any styling products on it.

Thanks for your responses :-)

Can you buy apple cider vinegar from the high street? I don’t remember seeing that any where before.

I condition with a light conditioner with no silicones, after cleansing with a gentle shampoo with no silicones.

Silicones dry my hair out and make it frizzy and straw-like. Cutting them out entirely, after a good scrub or two with a sting shampoo like Johnson's baby shampoo, has transformed it.

Bloody hell, I wouldn't go near cider vinegar with mine unless I wanted it to fry into instant split ends, that stuff is lethal. SUPER acidic. I wash mine daily and use Pantene in the gold bottle

thanks :-)

How often do you wash and condition it though?

I couldn’t do mine everyday, that’d be a total nightmare.

I wash mine twice a week. It looks best on day two and three (can have too much volume on day one and too little on day four!).

Mine is slightly longer than waist length and I wash it every 5-7 days. No chance daily as it takes hours to dry. I don't like to use a hairdryer

To condition I use one of the hair foods in a tub. Macadamia is a favourite, or the gold tub Pantene. Elasticizer sometimes. I oil the ends afterwards (and alternate days) and use a detangler/leave in conditioner. A cold water rinse is essential after conditioning. Fair hair, wavy, prone to dryness.

My teenage daughter has mid thigh length (!) hair and washes twice a week. Dark hair prone to being greasy. She prefers tresemme shampoos and the same conditioners as me. Though she pre wash oils with amla.

I don't use conditioner, my hair has been down to the top of my legs maybe longer,a bit shorter now but I just use shampoo

WandaWonder · 25/02/2023 04:26

Forgot to add I was every couple of days, brush and tie it back and let it dry when it dries

I hate hair dryers

Mumskisail · 25/02/2023 06:09

I leave conditioner in for 5 mins it sometimes longer if I'm having a bath.

For colour I use natural henna and cassia £10 to do my roots for a year and never use chemical hair dye. I'm 50 (pass for younger) and have beautiful long thick shiny natural looking auburn hair to my elbow. The colour allows tones to show through and just makes my greys look sunkissed /strawberry blonde so they blend in.

Hairdressers will criticise as they hate it when people do their own hair. Mine told me last time that Henna isn't actually very good for hair but I pointed out that it's much better than chemical or even the so called natural hair dyes she uses. My hair would be dry and split and I'd have to wear it shorter.

She admitted my hair is in beautiful condition but asked me not to speak to loudly in case the other clients heard!

I'm here for any photos Smile
Absolutely obsessed with long hair.
Mine won't grow past my shoulders and even then it's tapering off to scraggy ends (trim regularly, take supplements, good products that make it feel Great (Kerastase) .. Nothing Sad)

Roselilly36 · 25/02/2023 06:37

I only wash my hair once a week, I wash twice with shampoo, use an intensive conditioner usually Tresemme I keep on for 10min, then once towel dried I use leave in conditioner (Toni & Guy) is the best one I have used, have tried other but I always go back to this. I am always complimented on my hair.

Ethelswith · 25/02/2023 06:46

My hair is nearly waist-length, and normally I wash it about 2 or 3 times a week

I use Aldi own brand or anything I see on offer that I fancy trying. There really isn't much difference between products (other than smell and packaging)

Leaving conditioner on for a long time does, I think, make a difference. As do occasional hot oil or other intensive treatments. Also, when out and about in dry/windy/cold weather I smooth conditioner on the bottom couple of inches as a protective layer
