DS will be going to a new school this year and we're looking at how he can get there. Our preferred option is about 20 minutes( 4.6km)through the fields and back roads. We feel this will be safer than cycling on the busy main road. His other options would be walking (2.4km) or taking the bus (personally feel this is the worst option as he has SN and the kids at the bus and stop can be quite boisterous).
We shall need to buy DS a new bike and kit him out. What type of bike do your DC's have?
lock?
Lights - bit worried he will forget to charge the /leave them on and be stolen
Do your DC go in all weathers?
What about bags? Do they ride with a backpack heavy with school books or have a basket or how?
Do they wear reflective clothing?
What else do I need to consider?
