Can you get the ick with a friend?

I feel awful but recently a friend of mine has just started to irritate me so much and I work with her too.

I met up last week for coffee and the conversation was an exact carbon copy of what we have already spoke about numerous times. I even predicted the next lines that she was going to say. I was internally screaming I don’t want to hear this story again.

I sound awful I know. And I’m sure I’m not the most interesting person to be around.

Yes, you can outgrow friends , just like you can outgrow a romantic relationship.

It’s a silly and overused expression but of course you can go off friends for a huge variety of reasons.

I’ve got a friend of many years who I still happily see in a group of others but I’ve dialled back seeing her alone or chatting much between larger gatherings. She’s just so fucking negative. It took years for me to realise she hates it when anything good happens to anyone else and always makes it about herself, even if it’s not something she’d want. Once it clicked it was exhausting to be around without other people to diffuse it.

Yes absolutely. It can wear off too with some space
