Are expensive shoes more comfortable?

I just wonder. I can hardly wear a heel, an ankle boot etc.
Are designer shoes designed to be comfortable?

Better made shoes are more comfortable, but I am not sure they all would class as 'designer'.

But cheap shoes are often less supportive.
