Has anyone had a (used) car delivered?

Considering this as an option as I am heavily pregnant and unable to drive hours to collect. I have spent months looking locally and due to budget can’t find what I’m after.
Im looking for something as rare as hens teeth (a reasonably priced manual 7 seater!) and have finally found one but unfortunately it’s 3.5 hours away. I could drive there but I'm 37 weeks now and it’s really not comfortable to sit in the car that long plus I have stupidly fast labours! It’s not from a main dealer, just a small used car dealership. It’s also an older car (2015) but it’s all I can afford. I’ve checked mot history etc and all seems fine.

Would I be mad to consider it?
When would I typically pay? If it’s on delivery then fine but what if I pay in advance…how do I know it’s not a scam as I won’t have viewed the car or been to the garage?

Any other advice appreciated 😊

get the aa or rac to check it out
it might not be perfect but it will throw up any obvious problems will the dealer deliver it or do you have to arrange your own ?

I did from a main dealer. It was during lockdowns so had to but I had no issues. As I bought online I could return within two weeks iirc. I'd do it again.

Dh was quoted £220 for delivery on a low loader from 2.5 hours away.

I did last year. Bought a car 4 hours away and had it delivered. It cost about £250 so not bad at all. Just remember to tax the jolly thing when it arrives (I didn’t even think about that)

And mine was from a small private dealer too I forgot to say.

Thanks everyone.

Did you pay in advance @whirlyhead ?

Im just worried I’ll spend all of my savings on a shed that blows up the day it arrives. The AA is a good idea though! I found the car on auto trader and the dealer offers nationwide delivery, it’s a small place though not a huge company like cazoo or those type.
