I started a thread Habs boys vs Merchant Taylor www.mumsnet.com/Talk/secondary/4740783-habs-boys-or-merchant-taylor and got a few responses but I am also following yours to get more info. Spoken to a few parents whom I know locally and they are v happy with the school, pastoral care and the sports facilities, access via met line is a huge advantage too especially if they have Saturday fixtures etc.

what’s your thoughts regarding grammar schools? Do you think sending to independent school with a scholarship is worth than sending to a grammar?

Depends on the grammar, its facilities and whether it would suit your DS surely? Schools are very individual OP and when you go and look around, talk to the staff and pupils, look at the facilities, you get an idea of what they might offer your DC. I've never looked at two schools and thought they were the same - every single one is different.

As for MTS, I know a couple of boys who go there and are very happy. We looked at it for our DS too, but it was a bit of a drive for us so it wasn't our first choice. In terms of facilities, particularly sports, and academics though we really liked it.

Yes we loved the school too but also got a grammar place and weighing pros and cons now.

Hi Redferrari, - just curious what decision you made in the end (grammar or pvt) - and how is it going so far? I'm going through that decision process now and can't make up my mind!
