How much should I pay my babysitter?

Just that really. We are in Birmingham.

I had a babysitter for the last two days for 4 hours and will have her for another 4 hours tomorrow.

I organised her over sitters.co.uk

Recommended pay is 11 pounds an hour for our area.

I forgot to update my profile on sitters to say that we now have 2 children instead of 1. Our children are 2 1/2 and 1 year old.

So the babysitter came on the basis that there was only 1 child. I gave her a tip of 6 pounds on the first day , so I paid her 50 pounds instead of 44 pounds (4 x 11 pounds) on the first day.

Today I only gave her 44 pounds without a tip, as I only had 44 pounds in the house.

She then complained and said she was expecting more money, as she's babysitting two children and not just one.

Now I know this is my fault for not updating my profile on sitters to two children.

I have now updated my profile to 2 children and it still shows recommended pay 11 pounds per hour for my area.

So my question is, how much more money should I pay her for the additional child?

Thanks for any advice xx

The pay is per hour not per child
i don’t think you’ve been unreasonable and you’ve given a tip

I would have rounded up to £50 again personally, but that’s because I generally round up / tip for anyone watching our kids or dogs as I want to keep the good people around us and make it nice for them to come back. If you find someone you trust, they are worth their weight in gold!

I think I will pay her 56 pounds tomorrow. That means her hourly wage was 12.50 pounds (150 pounds/12 hours).

I think that's fair.
