Why have nappies suddenly skyrocketed?

Bought a pack a couple of weeks ago - £7.50. This week the same pack is £11! That's a 50% increase. What has specifically affected nappies in the last fortnight?

It's obviously Brexit.

Can't think why, though, but it's definitely Brexit.

Were they on offer last week? I mena those sound like branded naplies, i pay about £3 for a pack from aldi or teaco own brand

Agreed, nothing to do with a pandemic, absolutely brexit 😁

We were wondering the same. A week ago we could get 2 jumbo boxes of pampers for £16, this week the same boxes are £22.

Rosafiona · 23/02/2023 15:55

I live in the Highlands, you can only get Pampers around here. Just a standard pack, about 40 nappies I think.
They went up from about £5/6 to £7.50 at the start of COL, when prices on everything went up, fair enough. But this new jump is weird!

I thought NASA might have had something to do with this when I read the title of the thread.

Kind of disappointed that nappies actually haven't skyrocketed, just the price of them has.

ElegantlyTouched · 23/02/2023 16:30

Have you tried Amazon? I'm also in the Highlands and find it much cheaper to buy in bulk from there than the local shops.

MrsBunnyEars · 23/02/2023 16:33

Tesco ones have gone up too - it’s not just pampas.

Are you using pampas grass now for nappies?? Have things really gone that bad???

purplecorkheart · 23/02/2023 16:46

I assume the increase in production costs are being passed on to the consumer.

Rosafiona · 23/02/2023 16:46

It might be cheaper for NASA to send them into space than it is to get them to the Highlands 😆

@ElegantlyTouched thanks, but trouble is, if everyone ordered huge quantities of stuff from Amazon, the local shops would go out of business. I'd rather leave Amazon-shopping to Highlanders genuinely on the breadline, since we ourselves can afford to pay local prices and support local jobs. We make sacrifices to live here in the place we're from, I accept that. Not criticising those who do buy online at all, I really understand some people have no choice 🙂
